There's something about the changing of the seasons. One minute I'm holding out for an Indian summer (clearly we won't be having one this year...) and the next I'm ready to dive head first into Fall. It's no secret that the winter months are some of my favourite. And there's no denying that the colder days and nights usually steals first place in any style contest. There's something about getting all wrapped up. The art of a well-layered outfit.
With savings still taking priority from now til January, I'm not deluding myself that I'm going to be able to splurge on a whole load of new pieces to add to my wardrobe but let's play make believe for a little while and let me tell you what I would be adding... Statement knits like this one from Olivia Palermo's Friday collection for Coast, statement lips (Kat Von D obviously), statement bags, (make mine a Chloe Faye in pretty much any Autumnal shade), and statement shoes, (as close to Gucci Marmont heeled loafers as I can manage). Like the burnt colours of the leaves, Autumn / Winter feels like the right time of year for bold pieces. Classic checked pinafores like this one from Topshop layered over crisp white shirts. Retro tees and faded jeans. The perfect thing to throw on under a new knit when you're all wrapped up ready for bonfire night. Sure, I'm sad to see summer go. But Autumn Winter, I think I'm just about ready for you.
