Apologies for being MIA for a couple days, I’ve been recovering from bank holiday sunday….
anyway…
On saturday papergirl came to Newcastle. I had heard little bits about the project online and basically the premise was to hand out free art in the city. The idea is inspired by US paper boys distributing newspapers, volunteers jumped on their bikes to hand out rolls of artwork to passersby. The concept came from an event organised in berlin back in 2005 by Aisha Ronninger.
The group of volunteers met at settle down cafe on the morning to pack up the art (and wrap it in cellophane so nothing got spoilt in the rain)
It was a great event, and such a lovely idea handing art out to people. I even managed to bag myself and my mam a couple of the rolls of art work they were handing out in baltic square..
This is such a brilliant idea! I wish that papergirl would come to Vancouver, I would love to be on the receiving end of a rolled up piece of art ๐ I love the bicycle picture you took home.

thanks for all your comments ๐
Annie the metal looking thing is actually just a print, the whole part with the man's face on is just printed onto the card and then the smaller picture of the man is a detachable badge. It's a handmade collage by Claire A Baker. if you like her pieces she does have a website: claireabaker.co.uk.
