Sometimes I think the best bits of a room are always the small details.
Candles flowers

Sprigs of fresh lavender stuffed into an enamel jug, candles in vintage style glasses, bright purple agapanthus, and cute summery prints.

I really hate air fresheners but I’m a big fan of scented candles and I picked up this one in Ikea this morning. I think even when it’s all burned out I’ll try and salvage the cup as a jewellery holder or something. I also found this white and green printed cotton in there. I love the little birds and it was only £1.80 for 60cm! I picked it out before I’ve even thought about what I could use it for. Maybe another top?

On a slightly different note, those of you who follow me on twitter (@HannahLayford) or instagram (@raspberrykitsch) will already have heard that I’ve been chosen as a lifestyle blogger for Benfield. That means I’ll be taking a little 5 week test drive of a new Kia Picanto and blogging about my adventures along the way! I’m really excited to get the car and can’t wait to share the trips I’m going to be making. I thought in addition to the blog posts though it may be nice to set up a pinterest board so I’ve started pinning bits and pieces relating to road trips because (obviously) I don’t have the car yet.. you can follow it here. Any ideas for nice trips out in the North East or England much appreciated. One of my friends helpfully suggested that maybe we could take it on the ferry to Norway. I can assure Benfield though that I told him this would definitely NOT be happening. Unless, of course, their insurance would cover me for a mini Euro road trip..

That material is gorgeous and I love the scented candle in the purple holder – you should definitely salvage the holder once the candle is gone!

RE in corbridge for some hidden treasures, Holy Island, literary road trip to Wordworth/Breatrix Potter land (The Lakes) Those national trust kinds of places where you complain about going as a kid but are really beatiful on a nice day, and hard to access without a car. Keidler water – these are the places on my North East road trip list! Really enjoy following your blog.

Aww thank you, I'm glad you enjoy reading. I think you've just read my mind because RE is definitely on the cards!! I love that place! And strangely enough I was just speaking to one of my friends who is living in Leeds, and she suggested a literary road trip to Haworth Hall. The Lakes is a really good shout too, thanks for the suggestions 🙂 xx

Definitely, I'm from Leeds too and if you're heading over that way Hebden is lovely too – interesting little town and the most gay friendly place in the UK apparently! Just read your latest post, whilst it is understandable, you shouldn't worry. I did Eng Lit at Newcastle (a few years above you) and have seen a lot of my contemporaries going down the writing/blogging route (with varying degrees of success – mostly due to how much they put into it and I personally find the more narcissistic ones very dull (you know the ones which are avowedly trying to present the writer as trendy in some way)). I really enjoy yours, good pictures, fashion and writing, and human enough that you'll post about wearing comfy pjs when you're feeling rubbish but not oversharing. Those who may make are most likely not doing anything for which they can be as proud, It's great to see how your blog has grown too, and you should be rightly pleased with it. Whilst I agree on being shy to promote it on fb – there is no need, those who are interested in the stuff you write find it, your friends know of it, and who else matters? That human-ness of not wanting to push it, and make it a CV builder or a platform to show off is precisely why I continue to read your blog long after I've given up on others. Keep it up! C x

Oh wow, that job ( and the new car! ) sounds so exciting! I wish I knew places there, but unfortunately, I'm firmly grounded in the United States. I hope you have great adventures in that car! 🙂
