pattern cutting progress..

I’ve finally designed my top and cut the pieces for it using my tunic block.
Remember the post on Bonjour Tristesse? Well this is what the top is going to look like. Eventually.

Because the design I wanted is quite loose fitting, I needed to remove the darts from the top and shorten the length so that it sits on my waist but really there wasn’t too much which needed altering.

Now the pieces are all pinned together all I need to do is sew them all up and attach the collar! I decided for my first attempt just to use the pattern pieces to make it up in a simple white cotton then I’m going to make attempt two with a nice gingham similar to the original.

Anyway, I’d love to stay and chat but I overindulged a little last night so I think I need an early one.

Hello! I love the shape of this top and it's so cool that you're making it yourself. There's something very beautiful about patterns (I lover the photo of with the ruler and lines) and sewing can be so meditative when it's not frustrating… I find myself entirely focused when I get the machine out. Can't wait to see shots of the finished top!

I love seeing your progress on this project – I'm worse than useless at sewing so I can only imagine doing something similar, but it's fascinating to see you take this step by step. I can't wait for the final product!
