Stylish Moments: The Talented Mr Ripley

Last week, one of my friends mentioned they were reading The Talented Mr Ripley and I couldn’t resist digging the film out. Set in 1950s Italy, the wardrobes are fantastic and the setting is even more irresistible. Have any of you read the book?

You can probably tell that I love everything that Marge (Gwyneth Paltrow’s character) wears from the retro swim wear and crisp blouses, to her scarf-tied pony tails. I love her hair and makeup in the film too: she never looks too polished but every now and then you get that glamourous flash of red lipstick.

As if I wasn’t already craving a holiday badly enough, now all I can think about is running away to the Italian Riviera. And how much I really need a little typewriter in my life..

I love this film! It just makes me want to pick up and move to my life to Italy permanently :L
Not usually a Paltrow fan but I think I love her wardrobe so much in this film that I can get over how irritating I usually find her.

I've seen the film (something about Jude Law I just love), but I'm definitely going to have to grab the book now too. I wish I'd lived in Italy – my family are from there so my aim is to live there one day! x

…i can't believe i've never seen this. the costuming looks spectacular. and i love the quality of the shots — they look like film, and not so overly digitized and perfected. i'm loving this! thanks for giving me something to add to my to do list this week!

I loved the book, but actually I think the film is better. It's a bit more glamorous haha!! Gwyneth Paltrow has never looked better in any movie – ever – than in the talented mr ripley. And oh, i don't even want to start on jude law!!!
