A Classic Black Bag

It’s not THE classic black bag, since I’m not ready to part with the money for a 2.55 (although I did try one on when I was in Mykonos). But I have found a beautiful new addition to my handbag collection to pacify my lust for a grown up black handbag! If you already follow me on instagram then you’ll already have seen a sneak peek of my new baby a few weeks back.. but I thought it was only right I gave her a proper introduction!

I’ve been on the hunt a while now for a classic black bag that I can use for smart occasions as well as day to day. I love my Bayswater and it’s such a classic shape that for a while I thought about just investing in another. But then it seemed daft to buy a bag the same shape, and I’d set eyes on the Del Rey last year! In the last Mulberry sale, the oversized Del Rey was reduced but being more of a suitcase than a handbag (and since I already have my Zara bucket bag), I decided to pass. The normal sized Del Rey was perfect though – and actually very similar in size to the Bayswater. So when it appeared in the sale this time around, I couldn’t resist snapping one up!
I know it’s a lot to pay for a bag, but I’m a sucker for Mulberry.

The Del Ray is gorgeous and an excellent choice. It's easy to go back to old favourites but I don't think you would have had the same levels of satisfaction and happiness on having something which is too similar to what you already have. I buy the same things all the time and there is little excitement over these items but when you get something which has a quirky twist or something which just makes you swoon – then the price is worth it. This will look wonderful set against your clothes – stripy tops and capri pants. Very chic and very Parisian.

Cute touch to the Mulberry (paper) bag. I like thought out packaging

Love love LOVE this – a mulberry is always a completely justifiable purchase! I'm saving for my next one at the moment – either the Bayswater shoulder or the Suffolk but I have no idea which, but I'll probably be going for a classic black colour whenever I do manage to actually keep money in my account long enough!

I've never really paid much attention to Mulberry bags especially after getting rid of mine but the Del Rey is beautiful. Such a classic style that will never date. I'd much rather go for something like the Del Rey than an It bag.
