The perfect pair of plimsolls

I’ve never really been a trainer person. Right now I own one pair of Nike trainers for the gym (hardly worn because I don’t go to the gym and very rarely do any exercise other than ballet), and a pair of falling to pieces plimsolls from the Army Surplus Store. But since don’t tend to wear jeans that often, and live in a wardrobe of skirts, shorts, dresses and playsuits I usually just opt for simple ballet pumps. Even when I was a kid, I was never really that bothered about getting the latest pair of trainers… I was more interested in Russell Bromley patent leather Mary Janes.. Some things never change I guess.

However, since I’ve been working at Precept, being surrounded by guys in jeans, I’ve found myself dressing more and more casually. At the moment, I’ve fallen into a uniform of breton tops and black jeans so I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect pair of trainers. I say trainers but I don’t mean like serious ‘I plan on working out some time in the near future’ trainers like, Nike Air Max. Or those classic Adidas trainer designs like Sambas. It’s probably safer to say I’m on the hunt for the perfect pair of plimsolls (or maybe Converse). I don’t want anything too bulky, so they won’t look odd if I wear them with shorts or little dresses. And because white (and cream) Converse are EVERYWHERE at the moment, I’ve been looking for something a little different. I recently found this brand, SeaVees which I’ve never actually heard of before but I love the shape! I found these Fred Perry and Lacoste ones too on Littlewoods.com online which are pretty cute.. but I still think the Superga’s are top of my list. But do I opt for them in navy or white? Decisions, decisions.

Oh crikey, I've been there and back with the whole sneakers/trainers/plimsolls thing for the best part of this year. I have the white Converse which are slowly beginning to take on the lovingly worn patina which I've been striving for (there is a subtle difference between worn in and downright grubby though). I've had the Nike grey Blazers on my feet and in my house but they went back eventually and I find myself still looking. I've even dabbled with some out there ones from Topshop but gravitate back to the Converse – I prefer the plimsoll shape (I'm no gym bunny let's face it).

As to the question, navy or white? Both.
