I’ve been trying to lie low over the bank holiday, since I’ve got a pretty busy week ahead with work and then I’m off to Kielder at the weekend! It’s been nice getting some reading done, catching up on magazines, chilling out. But I’ve never been that great at lazy weekends so to combat my growing restlessness, I grabbed Sarah and headed into town to enjoy the sunshine, and get accidentally caught up in High Bridge’s bank holiday festivities.

With live music and food stalls offering a delicious array of delicacies from Indian street food and Caribbean saltfish stew to burritos and hog roasts. Since we’d already stopped for lunch at Las Iguanas, we felt pretty cheated that we hadn’t wandered up High Bridge before eating! I could definitely have tucked into some of Dabawall’s chaat! Instead we opted for fresh coconuts filled with pineapple juice and picked up a couple of strawberry and nutella macaroons for dessert!

This time last week I couldn’t stop thinking about how ready I was to pack up my summer wardrobe. But then after today all I can think about is freckles, tan lines, shorts and summer dresses… looks like we’ve lucked out with the weather for a little longer! At least that’s the way I’m looking at it for now.

Ah these pics make me miss the UK! I firmly believe it's the happiest place to be when the sun is out.
