Last weekend, while me and LG were up in Kielder, I felt the weather start to shift. The days were getting colder and the nights starting to get dark quicker. And all I could think was how excited I am to start getting all wrapped up again! I hate to say it (because I do love the sunshine), but I think I’m ready for winter now. I much prefer AW wardrobes fashion, and I’ve already started working on this year’s. Since we’ve had an unusually hot summer, I’ve started building my wardrobe a little later than normal. Last year I didn’t find much, but this year I’ve seen loads of pieces that I want. I’ve already added a couple of new things to my wardrobe and since it’s still not quite cold enough to wear them, I thought I’d share a little snippet of my recent additions for AW13.
If there’s one thing I probably didn’t need, it is definitely black Chelsea boots. They’re a growing obsession of mine and I’ve lived in my Deena and Ozzy heeled Chelsea boots for the last couple years. However, when the lovely Lauren from OPR got in touch to let me know about the Dr Martens store opening in Newcastle, she offered me a free pair of boots to wear to the launch event. At first I was a bit sceptical, since Dr Martens was always something I associated with more alternative people. Some of my best friends have pairs but I’ve never really thought that I could pull them off. However, after browsing through their site, I was really surprised by how many wearable pairs of boots I found! I couldn’t help being drawn to the Chelsea boots from the Kensington collection straight away! They differ slightly from more traditional Docs with a much slimmer sole on an plain welt rather than sporting the iconic yellow stitching. In the end I opted for these black velvet Floren Chelsea boots (after being convinced by J), as something that suits my style more than traditional Docs. But I think the velvet makes them a little bit different. I’ll share more photos soon from the launch, but I can’t tell you how much I love them already!
I didn’t end up finding a new winter coat last year and just stuck with a couple of old ones but a few weeks ago I was sent this gorgeous orange wool Hartland Buttons Coat c/o Great Plains. I don’t usually go for orange but for some reason I’ve been really drawn to it this season. It reminds me of the amazing coat from Breakfast at Tiffany’s and I can’t wait for the cold weather to arrive so I can get tucked up in it! I also can’t help but think it would go perfectly with a certain LK Bennett bag too…
Finally, the loafers were a bargain from Asos at £20, (and they’re leather!) Even though I love them, I’m still a little unsure of loafers. I’m not quite sure I can pull them off. They look fantastic on people like Alexa Chung but I’m worried I just look like I’ve nicked a pair of shoes off a pensioner. I’m still in the process of wearing them in at the moment but I’ll keep you posted on my progress.
Everything you bought is so cute! I especially want those boots of yours. In California, the temperatures have been soaring to well above 90 degrees. Even though winter means school, I can't wait for winter weather.
OMG I am so ridiculously excited about AW13 too, I had the briefest of strolls around a couple of shops this morning and spotted so so many things I need to try on. So many beautiful colours, gorgeous jackets … and don't even get me started on how many pairs of boots I've got my eye on. Having to tell myself no until after holiday though :s
