So I’ve been a little quiet again… what with starting the new job, a long weekend in Berlin, and then getting back into work mode, I’ve been feeling a little at odds with myself. I thought that moving into a not so creative role, I’d be able to ease back into blogging. But if I’m being honest, the last few weeks have been exhausting. And all I’ve wanted to do was retreat into a good book.
Sadly, the reality of working full time, interferes with the fantasy of spending my days pouring over novels. So I’ve had to satisfy myself with stuffing a book in my new Dr Martens satchel on the way to work and taking an hour to myself at lunch time.
As you’ll all be more than aware, my reading pile is an ever expanding collection of classics, recommendations and random editions which have caught my eye. I’ve got a list of books on my ‘I know I should read this’, and Madame Bovary has been on there for a long time. So it was a nice surprise when Alma Books got in touch about Evergreens, their new range of classics and asked how I’d like a copy of Flaubert’s classic. The premise behind the collection, is to offer a range of classics at the affordable price of £4.99. Having been a literature student, I know the perils of buying cheap additions and have been the victim to many a Dover Thrift or Wordsworth classic coming away at the spine. But these feel like really good quality. Not to mention a lovely cover.
What are you reading at the moment?
I love your satchel! It may have just gone onto my Christmas wish list 🙂 Hope your new job is going well!

I LOVE my Docs satchel at the minute – it feels a little sacrilegious but I think I may prefer it to my Cambridge Satchel because the leather is a lot softer so the shape isn't as rigid. Ahh thanks, Laura. Yeah everything is going well with work and I'm much more settled now.. still feels as though I'm left playing catch up with my writing though! xx
I'm always feeling exhausted as of late and I shamefully admit, I haven't read any title for the last quarter of the year. 🙁
Love your satchel, btw.
I've been keeping a pinterest board of everything I've read this year and it's been a surprisingly good motivator to keep picking up new books! Plus I have an embarrassingly large pile of books to read that I just seem to constantly add to. I finished The English Patient last week and if you haven't already ready it, I'd definitely recommend picking up a copy! xx
still well jel of this satchel, such a gorgeous colour! full time working is a well harsh reality lol, but makes time off all the sweeter I think 🙂 x
I know, complete impulse purchase but I'm glad you talked me into it! Yeah this is true.. guess if we didn't have it then we wouldn't be able to appreciate being able to spend the weekend in pjs 😉 xx
