Sleepy Saturdays

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who sent me messages and emails after my last post. It’s been a big adjustment and I really appreciate your support. In between the nerves of starting my new job, learning new things, remembering names and just generally trying to settle into a new environment, I feel worn out! After a busy week, sometimes there’s nothing better than enjoying a lazy weekend. So this morning I stayed in bed for a long time, curled up with a book that didn’t make me think, painted my nails with my new favourite polish and started to catch up on emails on my phone.. (thoughts on my lovely new iphone case?)

Now I’m far from a beauty blogger, but I do love nail polishes and last Christmas I got a gorgeous Chanel nail polish from my brothers, 505 Particuliere. I’m not sure how you’ve found Chanel polishes in general, but I’ve never known ANY chip off as easily. I probably just need to invest in a good topcoat but it really puts me off when they’re such expensive polishes to start with! However, I found this one in Boots a couple of weeks ago and it’s by Sinful Colours. It was only £1.99 and the colour is really similar (in case you’re wondering the shade is Nirvana) so I thought I’d give it a try. When you first apply it, it looks quite thin but after a second coat you get a nice even coverage. It dries quickly and I can usually go two or three days (depending on how careful I’m being) before it starts to chip – and that’s without a top coat! I’ve already been back to pick up a couple more shades.

So now I’ve had a little relax, I’m heading out to hunt out some Barbour bargains from the outlet and go work wear shopping at Zara. How are you spending your Saturday?

CHANEL nail polishes just do not do it for me! They chip so easily and can wear really thin so sometimes I find that the cheaper a polish is the better! x

Chanel varnishes can be very hit and miss. I've had good ones which go on brilliantly and ones which I've been that close to throwing out of the window (Black Pearl springs to mind). But Particuliere goes on quite well as I have that one but no better or worse than Mushroom by Barry M which is a dupe and a very good one at that. A topcoat probably helps – I always use one and it adds that extra shine as well as protection.

    Glad you're settling in.
