Since its successful launch with screenings of The Big Lebowski at boutique bowling alley, Lane7, Screenage Kicks is quickly making a name for itself as the premier pop-up cinema event in Toon. With live action from dancers, bands and a troupe of actors reenacting scenes, it’s a completely immersing cinematic experience. And for their latest offering, a screening of Reservoir Dogs in Newcastle’s most popular warehouse venue the Stephenson Boiler Shop, seemed like the perfect excuse for me, Bosson and the boys to suit up. Complete with Reservoir Hot Dogs from Sugar Down Bakery, Sliced Ear Burgers from Fat Hippo and a fully stocked bar, what better way to spend a Thursday night than suiting up to sit in a warehouse sipping on malbec, eating gourmet burgers and enjoying a cult classic? Unfortunately me, Bosson and Mark stuck to the red wine instead of sampling any of Wylam and The Cumberland Arms’ specially themed ales and cocktails. Probably not the best idea when wearing white shirts, but the stains are starting to come out…
Keep your eyes peeled on Screenage Kick’s Facebook for details of their next event, a screening of Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down! promising a party of Spanish drag queens, 80s fancy dress, tapas and more on 13th of June.
