Words have been tricky lately. With the warm weather and a few busy weekends, my blogging has taken a serious nose dive. I’ve got posts lined up and plenty of photos, but words and the motivation to write have been evading me. And what’s a writer without words? Instead of words, I’ve taken photos. Hundreds and thousands of photos. Yet they’re all sitting on my hard drive, waiting for the words to go with them. After a difficult morning, I’ve spent the day feeling frustrated and exhausted, but strangely restless. So I thought that maybe the catharsis of writing might help clear my head.

When I was feeling restless tonight, the first thing I thought about was going for a walk along the river. Over the last few weekends, wandering down the quayside in the sunshine, has been one of my favourite things. There’s something unmistakably calming about the river and being close to the water. It clears my head and steadies me. During the week, at night, it’s different, peaceful. But come the weekend, the Quayside has a completely different energy and it buzzes with people. Especially on Sundays for the morning market. The whole stretch of the Quayside comes alive with stalls selling everything from handmade leather goods, to freshly made crepes, street food and second hand books. It’s the perfect place to lose yourself for a few hours.
