Beauty: Summer Beauty Trends for 2017

Summer months are made for minimal makeup.

When the weather starts getting warmer, I'm always in favour of sporting a more natural look. One that's less effort and more get up and go. Partly because I want to save time and partly because when my skin is tanned, I don't want to cake it in makeup!

Lucky for me, leading experts in beauty seem to share my sentiments and this season's makeup trends are all about minimal fuss. It's about natural beauty and keeping things simple with cute little touches like a glossy lip or a little nail art.

Nail art

Paired with simple makeup, nail art can really help to make an outfit. Whether you're matching or clashing. If you've followed me on Instagram for a while, you'll know I have a little nail art obsession. My nail artist, Nicole (and she is an artist, not a tech!), works wonders with all kinds of glitters and polishes (like these from Ellisons nail art supplies). She uses mainly gel polishes for mine but there are plenty of other great options for nail art. And if you've got the patience to do it yourself, you could always use normal polish. All you need to do next is hit Pinterest for a little inspiration and get creative!

Dewy skin

There's nothing I love more in summer than tanned, dewy skin. If you're not going to be spending the next couple of weeks on beach, no fear! Fake the holiday glow with Nars Liquid Bronzer and Ciaté Dewy Stix. A quick pump of the liquid bronzer blends easily into your skin creating an instant bronzed goddess look. Add a quick swipe of the Dewy Stix to highlight and you're pretty much good to go.

Smudged eyeliner

I'm a big fan of liquid liner, but sometimes I can't face the hassle in summer. Plus you can't beat the simple, smudged liner look. No muss, no fuss and no spending hours trying to make your lines symmetrical! Not to mention it's easier to touch up when your makeup is melting down your face... One of my favourite pencils is Benefit's BADgal eyeliner pencil - it's mega pigmented so you only need a quick swipe and there's a handy sponge tip on the other side for blending.

Glossy lips

Here's a confession: I've not worn lip gloss in years. YEARS. But right now it's having a bit of a resurgence. If 2016 was the year of the liquid lipstick, then 2017 is all about moving away from matte and embracing a bit of gloss! And when you're keeping your makeup quite simple, a little swipe of gloss can make you feel a little more polished and together. Try Dior Addict Lipmaximizer for a plumping, non-sticky formula that won't make your lips feel gross.
